UK Jazz: Many Lanes, One Energy

I hear people talk about the “UK scene” like it’s one sound. It isn’t — and that’s exactly why I rate it.
One quick proof is the Apple Music playlist Jazz Scene: UK (it literally says “UPDATED FRIDAY”), and the featured names are deliberately broad — from Mammal Hands’s spacious glow to Nubiyan Twist’s groove, DoomCannon’s cinematic edges, Shabaka’s fire, and Matthew Halsall’s spiritual lane.
For Jazz Matters, that’s the point: I don’t judge it by instrumentation. I judge it by attitude — forward, curious, and built for listeners who want movement and depth.
