I have spent a long time thinking about how Jazz Matters should move forward.
The answer has not been one enormous relaunch or a sudden attempt to change everything. It has been a series of smaller decisions: rebuilding the website, giving the music and writing a clearer structure, making the Music Player easier to explore and establishing jazzmatters.world as the central home.
I have also thought carefully about what belongs within Jazz Matters. Contemporary jazz and nu-jazz remain at its heart, while NuDirections gives me room to follow music that travels further across sounds, places and genres.
Not everything needs to arrive at once. I would rather introduce each part when it is ready and give it the attention it deserves. That approach may appear slower, but it is helping me build something clearer, more useful and better suited to the way I want to work.
Jazz Matters is not starting again. It is taking better shape.
There will always be ideas developing in the background, but I no longer feel the need to force everything into place immediately. Small steps are still progress — and, in this case, I believe they are leading Jazz Matters somewhere stronger.
