Building the Jazz Matters Library

Much of my time recently has been spent uploading podcasts and gradually populating the Jazz Matters website.

From the outside, it may look like a straightforward job: upload a programme, add some words and move on to the next one. In reality, there is quite a bit more involved.

Each podcast needs to be placed in the right part of the website, presented clearly and supported by the information that helps explain what it is. I want people to be able to find a show, understand its background, look through the playlist and then discover something else that interests them.

That is why I have started thinking of this stage as building the Jazz Matters library.
I am bringing the music, the older podcasts and the newer direction of Jazz Matters together under one roof. It is careful and sometimes repetitive work, but it is also important. The website needs to feel like a proper home rather than simply another page filled with audio players.

There is still plenty to add, but with every podcast I upload, the shape of Jazz Matters becomes a little clearer.

This is the groundwork behind the launch of www.jazzmatters.world.
